Consoling a rape victim is natural in any human with a heart. You might apologize to him or her profusely. You may suggest counseling and immediate medical assistance. Maybe even lend that helpful ear of yours if the person only wants to let it out.
But what if you're not in that empathetic category? What if, not only you don't feel for that rape victim, but rather, you wish you'd been the first one to violate her?
Well, in that case, you've sold your humanity to something very, very evil. Something that belongs deep, down in a dark cellar, slinking down a dark, dirty pipe in the darkest universe darkocity has to offer. You'd also be Rodrigo Duterte, mayor of Davao City in the Phillippines and current front runner for his country's presidency.
In 1989, Duterte was serving his first term as mayor when prisoners took 15 church workers hostage. That ended with their deaths by inmates. One of them was Australian missionary Jacqueline Hamill, who the prisoners also raped.
Wanna know what Duterte, in the present day, thought of Hamill's rape? Hint: He didn't offer her any rape kits:
Is he part of a secret, international cabal of politicians who've pledged to spew the most botulistic, pure evil dreck? We can see Duterte spending his weekends holed up in a Secret Society lair with Cruz and Trump, thinking of ways to one up each other on the woman-hating tip, Stonecutters garb and all.
How can someone possibly look at a rape victim and think, "Man, why wasn't I the first one to rape that?" We hope Mr. Duterte's women friends-if he has any-don't live anywhere near his ass. Better yet, let's hope his daughters stay away from him too. If we were his wife (and that would be an interesting setup if a blog turned into a woman), we'd consider filing for divorce right now.
The man ain't apologizing for his comments neither. Speaking about the controversy he's stirred, Duterte told reporters, "If it brings me down, let it bring me down. If it brings me up to the presidency, then well and good. I will serve you, but I will not as a matter of honor apologize for (it)."
You need to apologize for your entire existence, Mr. Duterte. Plain and simple.

"I was angry she was raped, yes that was one thing. But she was so beautiful, I think the mayor should have been first. What a waste."Did Mr. Duterte's mother not hug him enough when he were growing up? Who pawned his soul on Canal Street?
